My spooky son invites you all over for dinner!

I mean.....to dinner? 🎃
I seriously played through the whole game...and IMMEADIATELY started a second playthrough because I loved it that much and it was so full of juice.

Congrats to the @spookydoorway.bsky.social dev team for a kick ass launch. I will absolutely be buying whatever game you make next 🙌
Wowow, The Seance of Blake Manor is an INCREDIBLE heckin game. If you love mystery games, folk horror, puzzles, or any combination thereof---it's a must play!

PLUS--it also teaches a PHENOMENAL process for mapping out mysteries for game or fiction projects 😍

Yes! We're living in an age where "reviews" have become self-centered reactionary statements and its hurting everyone (especially the very consumers who review in such a manner).

Learning to discern what u personally enjoy vs what is objectively well-made (but not ur thing) is critical to progress!
My friend Greg has made a super fun TTRPG that feels like that sweet video game we've loved since we held that first GameBoy Color ;)

Give the Domeskai Tamers Kickstarter a look & back to catch your own piece of nostalgia (I had a ton of fun playtesting it <3)
If you saw the daily trauma that is my inbox...you would understand why I must repeat that as loudly and as often as possible regardless of what provokes the reaction 😬
Like...guys....listen to literally any of these voice over recordings for 5 seconds while you're doing your 'how to beat..' videos.

Gang. Its actually embarrassing.
One of the best things about Silksong is obviously awesome number of female/femme-coded NPCs & bosses.

One of the most annoying things about Silksong fans is the default Reddit/general internet people defaulting to 'he' (vs it or she or they or literally anything else) for everything that moves
Feels like a good time to remind people that I (and freelancers/most game desogners everywhere) have nothing to do with production & no oversight or power over book shipping or fulfillment for any projects I've ever worked on 😬
Casually throwing around the word 'failure' by the way is why indie game studios are going dark, afraid to publish frequently, and all manner of other reasons.

So consider your words carefully (esp in online chatter) if you want to keep seeing great games come out for u to enjoy in any capacity
Nah. Its definitely a great narrative starting point for new players.

Its a sequel only in terms that it presents a satisfying upgrade in challenge to those who spent 6 years playing their first offering and training thumbs of steel
Silk Song slaps. Love how rich the setting and story is.

To the people rating it poorly cuz its harder....um....yeah, its clearly intended to be a big girl sequel 😆

I've always admired Wolfgang Baur from @koboldpress.com (and Kobold Press in general). It's an amazing time for TTRPGs, and seeing this blog post really helps shine a light on what KP might be looking to do in the future. They have a simple poll, but the post is important as well, I think.
State of Play: Let a Thousand RPGs Bloom
CEO and Kobold-in-Chief Wolfgang Baur talks about dozens of new roleplaying games springing onto the scene in 2025. Why? What does it mean? Tell us what you think!

You arent alone on that dour planet 🤤
Even though im working as a full time staff designer these days---i still dont factor into any royalties equation. I am paid what im paid with a flat employee rate.
And from my experience, that is pretty typical in the game industry.
To be frank, im not sure how that process works.
Most freelance game designers in the industry (including me) for these projects get a single check when we write for a book and that's the end of it.
Right now, the industry totally leaves designers out of the royalties equation.
As a random fun fact---the announcement that the Grim Hollow Player's Guide is going up on D&D Beyond now brings my total to 6 credited titles on da site!

I'm calling from inside the houseeee XD
I do admittedly love playing clerics---but the primary push there was always to make sure the "core" god domains were represented as fast as possible :P
I really want to meet someone who designs escape rooms professionally and just....ask them everything?

(I really want to make an escape room XD)
You're an amazing addition to any LARP circuit! They are lucky to have you :D
