At the current pace, Latinas won’t reach pay equity with White men until 2160 for full-time, year-round workers—and not until 2178 for all Latinas with earnings.

The time for change is now.
Latinas are overrepresented in industries such as farm work or domestic, which are known for paying low wages. The targeted attacks in the immigrant community have made conditions unsafe for workers to attend work.
Latinas earn 54 cents for every dollar a white, non-Hispanic man earns losing up to 1.2 million dollars over a 40-year career. For full-time, year round workers the wage gap widens to 58 cents per dollar.

According to the KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation), nearly 40% of our population between the ages of 18 and 64 identifies as Latino women. From STEAM to the arts and entertainment, as well as in sports and politics, Latinas are making significant strides as leaders for California’s future.
This month, we honor and celebrate the Latino communities in California for their resilience and contributions to our culture and traditions.
Today, we pause to remember the survivors, honor the lives lost, and families forever changed, as well as the courage of the first responders and volunteers. May we find the strength and resilience to stand together in unity and hope.
