Depends on the game.
I noticed that a lot of modern games no longer hold my attention, while a lot of older games tend to keep it. Could be nostalgia. Could also be that newer games have SOMETHING that kinda kills the vibe.

They definitely add something, but it really depends on how they are designed. Most of them just feel copy-pastey

I would always give out some suggestions and then link them to distrosea, where you can test the UI and feel of several distros in your browser. That way they have a frame of reference and can actually dick around a bit.
