Rangers spent the early part of this week dealing with fallen limbs / trees following Storm Amy. Bollin Valley Ranger Roger and Ranger Martin were dealing with this relatively small tree at Tegg's Nose Country Park but trees were also cleared at other sites we manage.

Bollin Valley Partnership Ranger Nik got this stunning photo of a Four-spot Orbweaver spider at Lindow Common SSSI last month. This species tends to be associated with taller and stronger vegetation to support its large orb web, such as the heather plants found at Lindow.

Last month contractors were performing their annual meadow cut at a number of our countryside sites. The tractor attachment cuts and collects the grass which is then deposited off the meadow after the wildflowers have set seed and the seeds have dropped to the ground.

Regular Tegg's Nose Country Park visitor, Tony Gilbert, has been out & about, looking for fungi. He spotted 3 species of scalycap, a large bolete & around 20 fly agarics. The photos show the temporary, visible parts of a fungus that produce & release their microscopic reproductive spores.
