QRT with your black & white art.

Oh OK, here are some animal skull sketches
Small pencil drawing of the skull of a crab-eating racoon, by me. Pencil drawing of the skull of a python, by me. Two pages of a sketchbook showing the previous two pencil drawings on facing pages.

Now I want to see a diagram of the Fox family tree, spouses and exes. Rather than Elder, Younger, etc it would be Fox the Nutty, Fox the Nuttier, Fox the Very Nutty Indeed.

It’s as if the entire point of the Oscars is about how James Cameron will respond to the result.

I’ve seen masses of reaction. Some think it’s great because it will piss Trump off. Some think it is clever because her friends & enemies are his friends & enemies so he can’t be too upset: smart politics by Nobel.

I’ve seen *nobody* discussing whether she was the most deserving of the nominees.

They think Nobel Prizes work like the Oscars: it’s all about influence campaigns, machinating and goodie bags.

And are we sure it *doesn’t* work at least somewhat like that?

‘So guys, what are you up to all day? — No, I’m serious, apparently I am Editor-in-Chief here so it seems like a good idea if I find out what we actually do…?’

That sign feels like it is advisory. ‘Croydon. Fly over.’

Turns out the Tories were the Mensheviks and Reform are the Bolsheviks. The outcome: bad luck, Russia.
cerishields.bsky.social
It is remarkable how both Tories and Reform don’t even bother to swap out the labels on the talking points they lift wholesale from the American right. DOGE, for instance. And newly elected Reform councillors thinking they were going to hunt down DEI officers in English councils.

By this stage you may feel you need a diagram — and here it is! (Courtesy of Wiki.) You will be pleased to see that the few artists who are not called Pieter or Jan are indeed called Dave 🙂
Family tree of the Brueghel family and its intersections with other artist families. There are A LOT of Pieters, Jans and Davids.

BTW, I know what you are thinking: egotistical men naming their sons after themselves.

Pieter Brueghel the Younger’s mother was Mayken, an artist, married to Pieter Brueghel the Elder, and her mother was also called Mayken, also an artist and also married to yet another artist called Pieter. So.

I guess what I’m saying is if Donald Trump Junior doesn’t have a son called Donald Trump Junior The Younger then something is going very wrong with the universe.

*cue theme tune from 1980s sitcom Soap*

Exactly this.

If a prize really is being awarded based upon triangulating the sulky response to it of someone who wasn’t even a nominee then it’s a silly, self-negating prize.

True story: Pieter Bruegel the Elder had two artist sons, Pieter Bruegel the Younger who was the eldest and Jan Bruegel the Elder who was the youngest. Confused? You will be: Pieter Bruegel the Younger *also* had an artist son called Pieter Bruegel… etc etc.

Born (perhaps) on this day in 1564, in Brussels Pieter Brueghel the Younger. Older son of the great Pieter. Made a good career painting copies of dad’s work for eager market.

I wonder if this service came with a Snooze option?

I FUCKEN FINISHED!!! As always, it took me 2 months, but I got there in the end.
The final illustration of a pink silkmoth with beige and brown upper wings and vibrant pink lower wings. Oh, and an incredibly fluffy body. A close up showing the detail of the furry wings.

Haha — I got a Like from OGWN Podcast. I wonder if that was @nndroid.bsky.social ? Hiya! Not quite sure that this has the makings of a nerdy Bunker episode, but… 🙂

Hahaha — I think you speak for very many!

1. There is something about Conservative men wanting female leaders to be their mummy.
2. Conservatives like Tim are now spreading the Matthew Syed gobshitery that Farage is a socialist (ergo, the Tories are to the Right of Farage).
3. The F word. He means Farage but it also works with Fascism.

A personification of Tory voters I wasn’t expecting today
A still from modern era Dr Who series 1 episode 9, The Empty Child. A child in a World War 2 gas mask pointing towards the viewer: text at the bottom reads, ‘Are you my mummy?’

If so then we have to conclude he thinks he might get lucky with his sister. I have… questions.
