Their statehood party being nationally bipartisan is a function of them not being a state - if and when they do at least on the national level there will be a big realignment imo
I'm still a little shocked that in this environment we might, necessarily, see apparently a big chunk of Democratic-leaning vote splitters for Miyares. That's kinda nuts
My warm take is they genuinely have been doing their best over the last 5 years with some novel situations and the market on an insane hair trigger throughout
Yeah if Miyares was polling more above Sears in terms of raw percentage then I'd say well ok the split is in the polling, but it's all undervotes/not sure buoying him so I don't think this is super clear
SCOTUS is illegitimate now in large part because they see the law as an amoral tool and not an end. We absolutely cannot resign ourselves to that worldview
It may shock some people but the non(maybe pre?)-Fed Soc position on the "law" is that cute shit does not work, and the point of having judges and lawyers is to make sure that cute shit does not work and the intent of thew words on paper is analyzed and followed
People always say that but they really generally try not to do this - there is not much history of explicit partisan support in most corporations outside of thanking whomever the current president/governor/etc. for doing X thing that they support
Idt this will work at least unless corporate interests start explicitly siding with the GOP in their comms. Yeah they're saying "clean" CR but they'd need to get more explicit about it to ramp up pressure
The Trump people say that about everything when they want to get their way! And they say it because people are social animals who think that a person would really only say that if they aren't bluffing
Also they're very bad at the mob thing, as the publishing of this piece shows. Most of the elite capitulation is either bc the institution agrees (e g. Columbia) or bc they want the admin to let them do something illegal or that a sane admin would block while they can get away with it
