While l prices are low, I got mine specifically for this lens combo. I don’t shoot other m39 lenses because it doesn’t have a rangefinder and I hate zone focusing.

The T also goes for much less than an R, and If I were buying again I’d probably try to get a T instead so I could use my other m39s.
I LOVE this particular combo with the L, because the Chroma double glass is fixed focus, and fixed aperture. You can set the exposure by looking at the external light meter before you bring the camera to your face. So it’s extremely quick! And I love the way this lens renders an image.

BUT…
Awesome!

Yeah, I wish I’d been able to spend more time there. I’m usually rushing to get to our fieldwork project, so mostly only manage to stay in Bengaluru for a night at a time and often only by the airport! 😥

🤞🤞for light lens lab...
Playing “is it pictures?” with some dragonfilms no. IV.

It’s pictures, but it’s a little thin. And by thin I mean both the negatives and also it’s a crazy thin PET base! Apparently Svema 42l aerial film.

I think I have that lens but could only find the similar 28-80 3.5-4.5 A. Definitely doesn’t look like that. 😅
And I’d already been starting to collect hand me down Pentax and Ricoh film gear and so had a bunch of Pentax mf A primes. 😅
No, I don’t think they made a monochrome k1? I have the regular ii.

I had always been a Nikon person but one of my fieldwork projects got (and still uses!) a k20d in ‘09 that was great for fieldwork. When I was buying a new body I wanted a ff and wr but couldn’t swing a Nikon fx body at the time.
Also, brands I like: I keep mentioning Zebra dry plates. Currently the only (but hopefully not for long) company producing dry plates and also dry tintypes. they are expanding/innovating too, and just released a faux oratype, new tank, and are threatening to produce new autochromes.

Q4: always hard to pick a favorite kit, but I loaded my domke bag with this setup last weekend, out doing outdoor stuff with my family, and it’s pretty rad shooting with awesome late nikon film gear and digital era lenses!

Well they are owned by Ricoh who also made k mount lenses (and bodies) for a long time before they owned Pentax!

I love my k1ii and shoot it with modern Pentax lenses and the occasional vintage film era prime. Could even mount an m42 on there!
