Gloucestershire and more than I can afford

Round here you need money to find a dentist. All the NHS ones are full
chcookley.bsky.social
Farage is rich - makes it easy to get access to a dentist
chcookley.bsky.social
Didn't notice! Thanks for the advice

I need to be clearer. I'm a councillor trying to navigate protecting trans rights in the face of the impending ECHR final guidance, so have to be more careful
chcookley.bsky.social
My fault for not being clear. It's too easy to lose the meaning trying to fit within the character limit
chcookley.bsky.social
I don't think that they are likely to, I was highlighting the ridiculous notion that trans men should be forced to use women's spaces
chcookley.bsky.social
Please read my followup
chcookley.bsky.social
Oh I've done it again! I'm talking about the Supreme Court judgement that implies that trans MEN should be forced to use women's spaces.
chcookley.bsky.social
I've just answered another comment. Out of context the fact I was talking about the SC and ECHR statements meaning that trans MEN would be forced into women's spaces disappears and does indeed look like a TERF dogwhistle - more care required by me to think beyond the immediate conversation!
chcookley.bsky.social
I see that out-of-context it sounds like the 'cis men pretending to be trans women' bullshit and I do have to be more careful !
chcookley.bsky.social
Christ, I finally understand. Context is everything. I was suggesting that the Supreme Court decision would force trans MEN to use the women's loos. So, all men, trans and cis, would be unchallengable in those spaces.
chcookley.bsky.social
No. I'm saying taking those rights away does
chcookley.bsky.social
Exactly! It was cis men I was talking about
chcookley.bsky.social
I certainly didn't mention trans women in my comments. I may have been mansplaining, however I was talking about the behaviour of cis men, so do have a view.
chcookley.bsky.social
Absolutely! I'm not arguing that it doesn't, but if I can understand which part a TERF would use, I can avoid similar in the future
chcookley.bsky.social
I know! It is something I have pointed out over and over again. However, in a conversation about the Supreme Court decision and subsequent guidance, I was pointing out their ridiculous implications.
chcookley.bsky.social
At the moment a cis man shouldn't be able to enter a women's space unquestioned. Predatory, or voyeuristic, cis men would be enabled by claiming to be trans, following the Supreme Court judgement and interim ECHR guidance. My comment said nothing negative about trans people - still don't understand
chcookley.bsky.social
Totally get that - the comment was in a specific context
chcookley.bsky.social
Genuinely, don't understand the dog whistle comment and would like to
chcookley.bsky.social
Which was what? The suggestion that trans men should be forced to use women's loos is a vile and ridiculous suggestion. Pointing out that predatory cis men in that world could use that as a means of entering women's spaces and therefore pose a risk is a logical extension.
chcookley.bsky.social
Is that meant to be a transphobic dog whistle? I was highlighting the ludicrous double standards of those who state that spaces should be restricted to those of 'biological' sex. Perhaps, too ironic for social media - I'll be more careful!
chcookley.bsky.social
That there are people who are not transphobes who, in my view mistakenly, think that they can convince those transphobes otherwise through conversation. This doesn't mean they are closet transphobes. My fear is that labelling them as such will create allies for dyed-in-the-wool TERFs
