It's got six needles in it with limited hinge points. The socktopus has very few posing options beyond flat (and the backside doesn't look much better).

Heh. Backside.

1) Of course they're from Texas
2) OF COURSE it's some old O&G chemist's personal/business stash

Every time I get stressed about how well our lab is managing chemical/waste compliance, something like this comes along and I realize that I should be FAR more worried about other people's sites...

I donate through the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and they're partnered with the Texas Medical Center in Houston. As far as I can determine, most goes for local medical therapeutic use, some for research.

It took me a while to pick a donor org here for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Apparently free Texas Renaissance Festival tickets are driving a big interest in blood donations at my center this weekend.

I declined, but am amused that the desire for pirate fairies and turkey legs spurs more donations.

The meeting began
with an icebreaker:
“which of your skills
would be most useful
if you found yourself
sent back in time
to the Middle Ages?”
and as I looked around
at all the unmasked faces
I was tempted to say:
I know how to
avoid the plague,
but instead I just said:
I can knit.

It's weirdly stressful to have to play "politics or sports?" with everyone losing their collective minds on my timeline this week.

Screaming and suggestions to sack the people in charge can go either way, really.

At least the chem Nobel chatter was surprisingly calm...

I only read the first few Potter books way back when so had no clue what that was supposed to mean, except the context made me go "Oh! Bag of Holding?"

So yeah. Also, Bag of Holding is both an item name AND a description of what it does, even if you don't get the D&D reference.

Did *all* the Justins McElroy in existence win some form of talent lottery, or what?

(That sky is just *mwah*!)

Aw, that sounds like the complaint of someone who hasn't eaten their recommended 1 to 2 small rocks today. 🪨

I know it's a typo, but this is the Pokéface I imagined.

Right? There's gotta be a lich in there somewhere.

Windows: This is a cemetary in the Czech Republic!
Me: Nice try, this is *absolutely* a video game level.

I'd suggest an old school shitposting venue, personal letters, but that requires both parties to have functioning postal systems and...well.

This month's calendar page/future postcard is a both a scoundrel and just a lil' guy.

One down, and it's off to the yarn scales to see if I'm in the clear for sock 2.

Challenge mode: Yttrium, Ytterbium, Terbium, or Erbium?

May I offer you all a partially knit sock in these trying times?

Like chemists don't...

Although at some point it becomes less bragging and more safety moment. 🤔

It's in patents, so you know it went through at least one layer of lawyers, too.

I went with ANS when I needed to use an abbreviation for a similar set of words.

Notably, I did NOT use that abbreviation in my verbal presentation. Nobody wants to hear about my ANS.

I keep forgetting and then rediscovering these patents/papers that refer to anionic surfactant solutions as ASS, and it amuses me every time. 😂

The good news is I don't care about GRRM since I haven't read GoT.

I just desperately need Glen Cook to live long enough to finish this Black Company sub-series now that he's started a new one.
