Some of this Wemby stuff last night looks like a Dr. J/Kareen hybrid, but 7-5. All bets are off.
So much went wrong for the Grizz in first half that 67-56 deficit doesn’t seem so bad: 25% from 3, foul problems, big negative turnover swing, Aldama no-show, KCP no FGs.
Cedric Coward’s first NBA bucket: Breakaway steal finished with a 180-degree layup off glass. Hoop, harm and flex for the fans.
Grizzlies have one and only one thing going for them so far tonight: Hunter Dickinson can't handle Jaren Jackson Jr.
Looks like they had them in Rockets-Thunder last night.
This will be the 25th season of NBA basketball in Memphis. I’ll be commemorating it throughout the season with a weekly countdown of the 25 greatest players in Memphis Grizzlies history.

Well, that was a slobberknocker of an opener.
I think that was me! Unless we each came up with the same image, which may be the case. But I do remember being jealous of Zach writing about Slow Mo: "He can pick your pocket while looking you in the eye."
Yeah, that was my favorite annual NBA read.

What, you don't have faith in a Javon Small/Cam Spencer point guard rotation in a regular-season game? Maybe Nov. 9 against OKC?
I'll enjoy listening to all of the Lowe/Mahoney League Pass Rankings pods, but man do I hate that isn't a column anymore. Writing >>> talking.
I don’t think it would be “switching out”. As long as you still qualify for the exception going forward you could just sign a different player to the exception, starting a new 10-day. There’s just a limit on keeping the same player for more than two 10-days (I think).
Would add Alex Len and Moses Brown to that list.
Will almost certainly put Grizzlies in position to apply for a hardship exception after 3-game mark. Since absences double up at PG (Jerome, Pippen) and C (Edey, Clarke), they could look either way.

Spitballing candidates:
C - Charles Bassey, Achiuwa
G - Jared Butler, Cam Payne, Del Wright, Bufkin
Tuomas Iisalo says Ja Morant is expected to play opening night.
We are not at all sure of that. Thus, bears watching.
