"Pigs Trotter", right. Looks like something else.
With the news about Andrew, all I have in my head today are the last few lyrics of the Madness song, The Prince.
Well, I guess as it's digital, there's more flexibility to change the images dynamically. The EU could sell NFTs for images to be on the currency. Alternatively, it could be changed to reflect current sentiment of who's in favour and who's not.
One other thought - could the EU be looking to develop "digital wallets" to store Euros, where cash goes into a smartphone app and is transacted point-to-point directly, without going through a bank system? Now that might be interesting, but I thought we already had versions of that. (5/5)
In one respect I get that. The increased unpredictable nature of the US government means sovereignty in all areas is becoming a critical strategy. But to call this a digital Euro is to hide the truth - the desire to sidestep US dependence in yet another area of modern commerce. (4/5)
So, is this statement by the EU really about finding an alternative base currency to the dollar and building a SWIFT alternative? It feels like Europe saying "we're big enough to move away from Visa/MasterCard and the SWIFT mechanism for anything in our home currency". (3/5)
I rarely use physical notes, taking cash out of an ATM perhaps 2-3 times a year. I was also probably last in my group of friends to use credit/debit cards in the pub, but even that's common practice, with paper cash rarely seen. (2/5)
I'm somewhat bemused by the idea that we don't already have digital currency. Admittedly, bitcoin and other crypto can be considered currency, but in reality have turned more into assets for investments than exchange mechanisms. (1/5)

Europe preps Digital Euro to enter circulation in 2029
: Because fewer people like banknotes, and payment sovereignty is a problem

Yeah, that would be much more useful. In the UK there are several apps that provide the details and also manage the payment process.
When you're quoting the amenities of your hotel on your website, do customers care that 80% of your lightbulbs are LEDs? Not a typical "amenity". Also how useful to have compostable stirrers, but not top of my list....
Probably the best song for me (zombie zoo). It s just so random but almost like a pop song.
You wouldn't call something that wasn't a banana, a banana. So the same should apply to any product, including meat, burgers, sausage, cheese etc.

Lab-grown meat does not a burger make, EU lawmakers insist
A burger by any other name.

We also need to consider the cost. Doing a second degree at £10K per year minimum is probably not sustainable for most. How do we make lifelong learning affordable?
I was once in a meeting where someone genuinely wrote “forward planning” on the whiteboard and got to the first N in planning before realising the phrase wouldn’t fit on one line….
Let’s not listen to the basis on which people are legitimately protesting, let’s just suppress them more so we don’t have to hear their protestations.

Police to get broader powers to crack down on repeated protests
The move is not a ban on protests but

Although my favourite would be Little and Large.
Bonnie and Clyde. Or perhaps Ant and Dec or even Cannon and Ball.
