I mean, I feel like he cares if it's an icy female telepath, but broadly, yes, I see your point 😄

She's gone right now and presumed dead, but I assumed she'd be back before too long. Even then, though, they're struggling with Mirage - her power set feels like it's simultaneously ballooning (she can link with animals! she can show desires now!) and also rarely gets much use somehow.

but they often treat him as invulnerable. And Karma is such a We Win button that they just kind of have to go "oh, darn, I tried to use my powers but they didn't work for....reasons!" way too often, or just shuffle her offscreen a lot.

I'm grappling with New Mutants a bit because other than Wolfsbane and Cannonball, the team has this odd agglomeration of nifty but indirect powers that the comic just isn't doing a good job of capitalizing on. I love powers with weird quirks, like Sunspot being super strong but not invulnerable,

I'm up to the mid-1980s in my complete X-Men read-through, currently juggling Uncanny and New Mutants. I just finished the first Magik mini-series!

In my experience, when people say 'virtue signalling' they are often referring simply to the presence of virtue

Not to mention Cole admits she still suffers from gender dysphoria. Choosing not to treat your own headaches doesn't mean you get to ban Tylenol.

“The existence of even one ex gay dismantles the central lie of homosexuality, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.”

Same shit different era.
Chloe Cole: The existence of even one detransitioner dismantles the central lie of transgenderism, that it is an innate characteristic from birth and therefore should have human rights awarded to it.

I want to punch him. I won't (and can't), but the lust is there.

That would certainly be the dream, yep

Apparently, insanely, somehow, no.

Wow! Every sentence was worse than the preceding one! Just when I thought I hated this as much as I possibly could, I discovered I had a new capacity for hatred which I'd never been forced to tap before!

What will the new Adam O'Neal–hosted WaPo opinions podcast sound like for the next few decades? Maybe a little something like this x.com/WashPostComm...

Also, can I just say about VG, Winner of Softest Video Game Hair Award 2024 *and* 2025?

And yeah, I'd be surprised if Bioware survives this purchase in any recognizable way. Their best hope is to get sold off to pay down the debt on the purchase.

I missed how aggressively crappy and low-magic the world was in DA:I and DA2, but it had been steadily getting less awful since Inquisition so the brightness and shininess of Thedas in DA:VG bothered me less than it otherwise might have. I'm going to miss the franchise and characters a lot.

I had mixed feelings about VG, largely due to its different vibe, but I enjoyed it, and liked where it left the franchise, which makes me all the sorrier that we'll likely never get another one.

It is shockingly hard to find a picture of Robin where he's decidedly NOT Kermit.
chrisvogel.bsky.social
It's possible that he is my hero. Is he in the market for an underling?

These people need Rafiki to whack them on the head with a stick and go "It doesn't matter! It's in the past now!"

The Vision of Escaflowne

This looks like the title splash image of a distressingly downbeat British cop drama whose title is just the name of the horrible town it takes place in. I'd absolutely watch it.

Universities gonna university. It fucking sucks and I empathize.

They threatened to revoke my library access and my new supervisor for violating the student code of conduct, even though it expressly protected locked posts, and tried to get me to delete them. After the call was over, I resumed caring for my husband, who was recovering from cancer surgery.
