This is a macro nature photo I took of an Orienpet lily. My shallow focus spotlights the crushed velvet of its purple stigma, vertically sweeping upward from a green stroke of stem, tilting right. Soft surrounds of pollen-weighted anthers blur into the bokeh as two fuchsia petals part the background, revealing a triangle of darkness beyond. This image ignited my latest 3-5-3 haiku:

Here is a macro photo I took of our last bi-color snapdragon in the front garden. The day was beautifully grey and rainy. Though there was no chance of seeing a tropical sunset, this flower held the might of dusk's glory in its misty face. This scoop of autumn sherbert glows against green peeps of background bokeh. Bending in for a closer look with my camera, I became enchanted by the perfect spheres scattered across its pink-red-orange-yellow petals. Within each crystal ball raindrop, a small universe of color and light. Their augury? My new 3-5-3 haiku:

A seascape photo I took in St. John. The orange dawn woke me from Caribbean dreams. Sheer clouds veiled the sun, casting on the island's ochre mountains below. Silhouettes of ships, gulls, buildings, a lighthouse, and jetties dot and frame the glistening ocean. A blazing column of golden light dazzles the surface of the sea, announcing the suns ascension.
