This movie was made in 1939. The premise was that Jimmy Stewart was an honest man from small town America who got sent to DC and was overwhelmed by the massive corruption in our government. 1939, and they already realized it. If you think it somehow got better, not worse, you're part of the problem.

Yeah that's been an intentional misrepresentation of the message at least as long as American evangelicals have existed, and I suspect it wasn't just limited to this continent either. I agree, I walk closer to the "Christian" path than the Christians do, and am not one.
