I have listened to the full interview btw. My interpretation is that he’s saying you can’t compare the impact of a new singing at a smaller club who hasn’t trained or played in pre season vs the same situation at Liverpool. IMO the sentence I quoted makes no sense in your interpretation.
I don’t believe he is referring to Newcastle when he says ““you cannot compare the impact of a player that hasn’t trained or played in preseason at a smaller club than if you go to Liverpool” but if that’s your interpretation you’re welcome to it.
“you cannot compare the impact of a player that hasn’t trained or played in preseason at a smaller club than if you go to Liverpool” , just curious then in your interpretation what the comparison he’s making is then?
A dig at who ? He was talking about the impact of a new signing at a new club when they haven’t trained or played in pre season. People have just picked up on the smaller club part , ignored context and decided he was talking about Isak not training at Newcastle.
I think he’s saying you can’t compare the impact of new singing at a smaller club if they haven’t played and trained in pre season than at Liverpool. I don’t believe he’s calling Newcastle a smaller club at all that’s just what these pages have ran with.
Except he hasn’t. Whilst talking about the impact of being a big signing at a club that you can’t compare a player not training at a smaller club than at Liverpool. Basic comprehension skills.
I’ve listened to press conference myself now and his statement is as reported by This is Anfield. Disappointingly misleading “interpretation” of his press conference.
“This is Anfield” reporting the quote was “So you cannot compare maybe a player who hasn’t trained or played in pre-season at a smaller club than if you go to Liverpool.” Which is a very different statement in meaning than reported here. So which was it ?
First half was fairly even with us just pipping it , we went to another level though in that 2nd half , don’t remember Benfica having a shot in anger in that 2nd half #nufc
It’s not lost on me that with fair calls for our wingers to be better in the league , they’ve been amongst our best in the champions league. Different nature to the games allowing them more space ? #nufc
I mean it’s better than just saying they are shit. Anyway , was just reflecting on the season so far and thought I’d share my views. Thanks for the respectful discussion. All to often it turns childish when someone who’s views differ interact with your posts on social media.
See I never said you can’t criticise , nor that we can’t discuss what would be a better team set up. Just that some take it too far and I’ll never agree with branding them as shit. Not playing well , in poor form etc fine . Just deserve more respect than to be told their shit by their own fans IMO
Generally avoid coming on social media when it gets very negative tbh. My way of not letting football ruin my mood and effect other aspects of my life. I am critical , you can see so on my feed , I just think some go overboard and I don’t agree with calling out players shit.
That’s a run of fixtures I expect wins from , so yes if we don’t win them I’ll be worried then. No I probably won’t run through the squad branding them shit or writing them off though , I’ve just never felt that serves anyone well.
I acknowledged the performances haven’t been great. Just not one for calling our players crap because they’re out of form. Still think it’s a tough start more than a poor one.
I know performances haven’t been great. But it’s just dawned on me , we’ve lost to Arsenal and Liverpool at home and Brighton away. Drawn with Villa and Bournemouth away. None of those are surprising results in isolation. Leeds result disappointing. Tough start more than a poor start ? #nufc
I think Murphy gets a lot of unwarranted hate. But I’ve never screamed at a player like I did shortly after he came on and he was jogging back as Brighton attacked dangerously down his side. Has moments like that or giving up on balls too early etc that drive me mental more than anything #nufc
Putting the game aside because I actually think we were quite good 2nd half. Added time has always been a massive pet peeve of mine. The ball wasn’t even in play until 90:20, plus all the stoppages in the 6 minutes. Including two brighton injuries. Barely played an extra minute over the 96. #nufc
I thought it was very Murphy performance when he came on. Not up to much most of the time , then delivers two unbelievable balls in the space of minutes , then goes on that run at the end that was also class.
