It was priced in, as they say.

Been thinking about my old club #SWFC a lot lately.

The fans deserve better, and watching its demise makes me glad my old dad isn’t around to witness it

Finding this harder to tolerate. It's very resonant.

Today we seem to have tuba practice (or possibly trombone). :-|

'The poor things, they aren't integrated because they have no services.' It's patronising, insulting, and – above all – wrong.
civetta.bsky.social
You don't need to alert the Mail: it's been clipped up on social media & the racists are already using it as fuel.

Imagine how it feels if you live in Handsworth and you hear that. You've already been slandered all week. This guy's meant to be on your side. What you get is this paternalistic stuff.
civetta.bsky.social
Yeah, but you don't have to say people in Handsworth aren't integrated because they have poor services, do you? That's just insulting the people who – presumably – you want to vote for you/improve the circumstances of and reinforcing Jenrick's premise. It suggests you don't think they can hear you.
civetta.bsky.social
That's an opinion poll, not a general election. & – as you know – the amounts it would raise are disputed. What are the 'useful things' it's going to be spent on? That seems quite important.

I'm not necessarily against wealth taxes but the idea that they're a cure all is simplistic nonsense.

As per my original point, Polanski is incredibly simiplistic in how he speaks. That's how he ended up partially agreeing with Jenrick on integration, despite himself, which is really dispiriting.

You can't just say 'tax the rich'. You need a proper plan. Who/what will you tax, and at what rate? What will be the total budgetary increase, allowing for various impacts? What will you spend it on? How will you deal with the fact that tax rises are a hard sell, even to people they don't affect?

I find Clarke a depressing manager, but the ones before him were even more depressing, so…
civetta.bsky.social
Ah, but they don't. :-)
civetta.bsky.social
Yeah, it's the broad brush, not really thinking things through (& seeing no reason to).
civetta.bsky.social
Polanski is incredibly careless in how he speaks. At one point he seemed to accept Jenrick's argument that people in Handsworth aren't 'integrated', blaming it on poor services. Yes, they do have poor services, it's a good point, but it's insulting to suggest that mean they aren't integrated.

That will only work if you act strongly against ageism. There's *a lot* of career change advice out there for older workers; it's worth nothing if employers then won't have you.
civetta.bsky.social
No, ageism is. Especially if you're a woman.
civetta.bsky.social
Sounds like they needed to go a goal down to actually start playing.

I confess I'm watching England-Wales… but why isn't Clarke playing Billy Gilmour??
