That is very, very cute - were they dressed up dwarves or goblins or nurgles, or just dressed up as middle aged men staying too late (lol)?

It’s called ‘they’d rather shout and throw chairs at teachers than sit down and write the date when asked nicely for the fourteenth time when they were at school’.

Ask me how I know! 🤓😭

Well, so far today I’ve done absolutely nothing tangibly productive, but I have had a lot of imaginary arguments with Piers Morgan (why did my kids introduce me to TikTok? 😭) so I’m now too exhausted to do the laundry and I hope that’s a good enough excuse for me to go back to bed for a nap.

Noooo! This is wrong!!

… now I want two…
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
… this can’t be real. No. Je refuse. I shall no be sucked into the capitalist machine!

(Hehehe, sucked…)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
… why do I feel strangely drawn to this?
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
(Sorry to go on, but this is cute - he’s next door playing Blood Bowl and all I can hear is him slapping his legs and clapping, which are his happy stims - I guess that means he’s winning? 🥰)

(To be fair, I didn’t know (haven’t taught media for over 10 years), and they didn’t know (the media teachers joined well after I left the school). But still. LARA CROFT. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Brb, going to stare at a wall for an hour or two)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
I have just found out that other schools did Lara Croft for one of their Media GCSE topics and I AM NOT OKAY

My daughter’s school chose Fortnite

FORTNITE

I AM UPSET

(They had me RIGHT THERE. I used to teach there! They JUST HAD TO ASK! They could have had it all, man… they could have had it all)

The older generation really do still struggle with it a lot. The kids, however, are in general fine - kids I’ve taught and friends of my kids often joke about my chaos, and I like that. They just accept that I think differently to other people, and there’s no shame in it. The kids are alright 🥰
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
Of course he has his very good points too - we’ve been together for 30 years! - but I do spend a lot of my time accommodating his needs and ignoring my own. Society in general often does this- as an autistic man they often make more accommodations for him than me as an adhd woman- and it can be hard
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
… to be on his terms or he has meltdowns (two weeks to sit on the new sofa, and I had to have £5k laser tattoo removal after I got a tattoo he said he was fine with but then couldn’t cope with. We also can’t move house, because he can’t handle change. Basically, if it isn’t his idea, we don’t do it)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
His mum is clearly autistic too, plus all his siblings are all very much on the spectrum, but she’s is wouldn’t have any of them tested due to the stigma in the 90s and that stuck, so now any suggestion of being ASD is seen as an insult, which makes him hard to live with sometimes. Everything has…
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
Right now, I don’t talk about my own struggles to get an official diagnosis, nor my own suspicions about my own kids because my parents treat it like a punch in the face. My husband, despite being clearly autistic, *hates* even the mention of ASD anywhere near him cos he’s been told it’s shameful
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
Teaching is how I realised I had adhd - I was teaching in a medical school (mainly mental health) and other teachers asked me how I was able to teach the ‘unteachable’ adhd kids so easily… and I realised it’s because they were just like me. They weren’t hard work for me, because I’m like that too 😅
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
So when they’re struggling, I don’t tell them off because I know they can’t help it - they’re neurodivergent in a world that isn’t designed for them. And where did that come from? Me & their dad! As one of their friends said recently ‘this is a no masking home’ (we were being particularly weird 😂)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
I have this A LOT. I’ve been trying to practice self-grace more recently, but undoing over 45 years of programming is hard. Weirdly, that my daughters are like me (especially my eldest - my youngest is more ASD, like her dad) helps, because if I can accept it in them, then I can accept it in me too

WHAT IF CAKE HAS NO CAKE IN IT but has dog in it?

(These things are really creepy - they’re still in the uncanny valley, but they’re crawling up the side of believable now and it makes me want to scratch my skin off)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
Don’t worry, my whole life is basically me repeating myself/saying waaaaay too much and pining for an edit button…
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
I have the full package, complete with the Night Terrors add on (thanks, Mum!) and the Talking To Myself In Public Without Realising It add on, too, which is great fun. I basically became an author as an excuse - ‘it’s ok! I’m creating!’ - people are much more lenient when you’re ✨creative✨😂😒
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
(Obviously I know it’s more complicated than that, but character limits and all… but that is basically it in a nutshell. He will cut off your medical care and starve you so there aren’t enough signatures to force the release of the files proving he’s a paedo. That’s the message to us outside the US)
clairesnonsense.bsky.social
The funniest* thing is, as someone outside the US, the only message I’m getting is ‘wow, Trump is willing to starve people so that lady won’t be able to force the release of the Epstein files to prove he’s a kiddie fiddler.’

It doesn’t matter if that’s true or not - that’s the perception.
