C. Faith, Cherry Valley (****1/2): The finest mainstream country debut since Miranda's Kerosene a generation ago, and it's not particularly close, and daresay this is even better than that record. Clever as all get out and twangy AF, Faith re-sets the bar for the neo-neo-traditionalist insurgency.

Happy coming out day. This is no surprise and nothing new, but I am a bi trans guy AND I bring good news - even in 2025, even in Kentucky, even in a small town, it is possible to live a full and whole and joyful life as an out queer person in this world. THIS world. I promise. I love you.

Something fun you’ll hear in the podcast is a portion of S.G. Goodman’s “Heat Lightning” off her album Planting By The Signs. The song samples portions of the interviews in Dr. Hall’s collection. You can listen to those interviews (or read the transcripts) in Berea College’s archive.

Without downloading anything new, where are you mentally?
John Freeman from “Half-Life: Full Life Consequences” with the text: “It’s a good day to do what has to be done by me”
The text jumbles up near the end.

And when I used to drive Uber in Lexington, I’d always tune into The Matterhorn Mix (Europop and EDM) when it was on. Passengers LOVED it, esp. considering most of these rides were to or from college parties. Darude Sandstorm often got a cheer.

The first radio show I started tuning into on purpose is on WRFL! I’d always liked listening to radio passively - in a “they’re keeping me company, I’ll listen to whatever’s on” kind of way - but in the early 2010s, I heard Col. Paco Chaos’ Pacobilly Hour and began listening every Monday morning.
