If, as a boss, you feel you need a day to feel more important in your job and need your employees to make you feel that way, you might actually be a sociopath, and should probably seek professional help. Appreciation goes down the corporate ladder, not up, that is just called "sucking up".

I mean, the third "person" is actually a bunch of cats in a trench coat right?

How many of us could go into our jobs and claim we don't know about a massive issue impacting every aspect of our jobs and still keep our jobs after that? He knows it's unpopular so he claims not to know about it. People should call him out constantly on being a liar, inept at his job, or both.

They only lose track of hundreds of millions or billions of dollars going to billionaires and massive corporate interests. I'm sure if there was a whiff of that kind of money going to protests or leftist causes, they would have that locked down and tracked in moments and the talking points for TV.

They apparently have all decided on "paid protestors" as the party line about why millions of people are showing up for events. They must think all these people work cheap, or they are incredibly bad at tracking money, because the government would know where hundreds of millions are coming from.

Nothing I have ever seen with AI has ever made me think it is worth it, or made my life better in any way. But it certainly is shoveling resources into a gaping furnace while hedge funds try to find a way to make money on it before it collapses the entire U.S. power grid.

Given it's going to generate a bunch of new star creation, and that star creation tends to be incredibly beautiful and awesome, I'm going to say that we're ALL winning from this encounter.

The President has been going around saying that he's not going to heaven, so, maybe he and Columbus can spend eternity exchanging notes on all the things they did that sent them to the Bad Place. Given what we know about both, eternity might not be long enough to go through all their sins.

I still think I like Canada's term better "First Peoples". But anything is better than celebrating Christopher Columbus himself. Bad enough he's got multiple cities, the capital district and so many other things in this country, he doesn't also need a holiday as well.

All that has to happen is he has to be convinced the Putin is insulting him and calling him weak and saying "he'll TACO on this as well" to other world leaders and he would give Ukraine anything.

It's not as bad as all that, it's just a foreign nation that bribed our President getting an active military foothold deep inside America's territory and well away from our defensive perimeter and observation assets. I'm sure they have agreed to buy lots of TrumpCoin for the permits, so it's fine.

I always like the science, but the last sentence about where home is was quite poetic, and I very much enjoyed that juxtaposition at the end of the article. I very much hope that at some point we'll find an answer to that question, but I suspect that "Mars as home" won't happen in our lifetimes.

Is there such a thing as a "watch oil salesman"? I'm thinking that would go great with Trump's new line of "Trump Headlight Fluid" and "Trump Celebrity Snipe Hunts" which I assume are going to start being offered here shortly.

People don't realize what a mess the judicial picks of bad presidents can leave for literally decades after that president has left office, or even passed away. There are still Reagan judges on the Court having significant impacts on our lives even now, about forty years later.

That's a good and entertaining read. See you on the pitch!

I appreciate that you're not going to let out the secret of which ones are which. Plausible deniability is always a benefit and I respect that.

This seems like a positive new trend.

I don't think that there are profits, record or otherwise, for OpenAI at this point. They are in the "burn all the money in the world and hope to generate a viable product" part of the bubble still.

I don't recall any "strong momentum" out of Anchorage, I recall that being a meeting where they said that they didn't agree on the big issues, only the small ones, so they agreed on which sandwiches to get, but not that Russia needs to leave Ukraine and pay reparations. That's not progress.

I have the entire Tintin series of comics, although I read them so much as a child that some are not in the best of condition and I had to replace them, but I will check that out. Is it every single page, or two pages together? It seems like one page per week would have taken over a year per book.

Does that just mean every chapter has to end with a hook, or is it even more complicated and involved than that?

That's awesome! I've only ever seen one in person before and it was amazing. Not quite a full solar eclipse or anything, but I love looking up and just getting to see something amazing.

I enjoy reading, but since Covid restrictions were lifted and my work got back into a normal schedule again, it's just so hard to have time to raise kids, work, do household chores, exercise, etc., by the time I get done with all that, it's time to crash and then wake up and do it all over again.

That is the kind of question that would definitely catch most people off guard. People are somewhat used to being asked what religion they are, I can't imagine it would be as common to have your response be "what do you think it should be?" Sounds like she was quite the firecracker in her time.
