You know what would *really* be helpful here? If these folks could call upon a state or city cop specifically trained to ensure due process for residents being accosted by ICE or ICE copycat criminals.

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

This is why I’d prefer to see blue city and state governments set up alert systems within their own infrastructure for residents to identify suspicious activity that could be ICE overreach or criminal copycats. It would have the added advantage of a straight line to local law enforcement.

Perry eviscerated DOJ arguments from the bench, including an idiotic version of Herr Miller’s “plenary power” gaffe that CNN is desperately trying to edit out of existence.

Frankly I’d like this to go straight to SCOTUS. Not that I trust the result will be a just one, but just to get it over with.

I’ve had this argument SO much over the years. Pete had a bad defensive year, and has minus range and arm.

BUT, in the 3 years before, he led all of baseball in digs, and was phenomenal around the bag on being able to hold the base on bad throws. These are the MOST important 1B skills.

I’m not normally a “run it back” guy unless it really makes sense. But if the Mets end up with a young, athletic infield (Mauricio/Acuña/Lindor/Baty) and use $ to spend on offensive upgrades in CF and DH, Candelita actually makes a lot of sense as a reserve infielder in ‘26.

Thinking you can only win an argument if you lie is a bankrupt position.

Newsom & Pritzker are excellent examples on how to win by exposing lies, not layering on your own.

As you know, I agree with that. But I do see a potential situation where Mauricio goes to 1B (which would be a defensive upgrade) and the Mets spend money on big offensive upgrades at CF and DH.

I’d prefer to bring Pete back, but I’d be okay with that as a Post-Bear plan.
