A public art sculpture of twisted silver metal creating an image of smoke rising from a fire. Photo by Robert Emond. A screen shot that says,”Artist statement: I’ve had the great fortune to live my whole life surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains. I grew up in a small town in British Columbia and I spent my childhood exploring those mountains and discovering the gifts they hold. It has been one of the great joys of my life to raise my own children here and help them to discover and appreciate the natural beauty of the Rockies. So many of my favorite memories are of camping with my family. All of us out under the stars at night – around the campfire – laughing, telling stories and just being a part of nature. Campsong is about the wonder and adventure of being out under the stars gathered around the campfire with family and friends. paulreimer.ca @paulreimerblacksmith” A collage of photos showing Newport public works and artist Paul Reimer installing the sculpture “Campsong” in front of the Performing Arts Center.
