Just stumbled across this explanation of machine learning by Simon Peyton Jones. It's really accessible, I'd really recommend it if you're interested.

There's an interesting map of GCSE Computer Science provision on this page. If you compare Warwickshire and Birmingham, the percentage of Warwickshire schools offering the GCSE is much higher, but the proportion of students actually taking it is higher in Birmingham.

Looks really good, I've got a parents evening at the same time though. If I sign up but don't attend will there be a video I can watch back later?

Morgan Stanley warns AI could sink 42-year-old software giant Adobe.

I remember using Adobe Photoshop in lessons, then they moved to an online-subscription service. They've been overpriced for years.

Quick question: the 7+ grades look comparable to other subjects, to what extent is there evidence/do you think this is because enough schools still select for CS GCSE (even soft selection).

Loved this, thanks for pulling it all together. Those of us at the chalk face have known for years how hard CS GCSE is but this is a great summary.

I was always taught that coding was writing code but programming was the whole process including problem analysis, design etc. The reason students struggle with the subject is so many resources focus on coding rather than programming.

Tesla found partly to blame for fatal Autopilot crash.

"the jury awarded $200m in punitive damages aimed at deterring Tesla from harmful behaviour in the future."

Is $200m punitive to Tesla? I guess so if they get it every time Autopilot fails.

Especially when you KNOW the prompt was longer than the email they could have sent. 🙄

We need an insulting name for people who constantly use AI to write emails.

Getting irritated by people making me read paragraphs of nonsense when a sentence would suffice. Presumably writing a sentence was beyond them.
