One idea I am mulling over though is suggesting renaming the stats, and have them represent personality traits, mainly because I find that fun and in spirit with some of the influences(Earthbound, and a bit of Persona 4) I am going with.

Been working on what I call a "Suburban Fantasy Conversion Guide" for Fabula Ultima for the sake of when I run an earthbound inspired game. It's mostly stuff like "Hey, it would be wise to reflavor Swords as Baseball Bats"

Subtle note in earthbound, and I know the name is probably different in the original Japanese, but while people may ask why the runaway five have six performers, we never see the keyboardist outside of said performances. He's probably a session musician/hired gun.

Watched Fright Night (85) with friends. I suggested Chinese Ghost Story, since I haven't had a chance to watch it, but it seemed like people wanted something different.

But yeah, even if what I do isn't earthbound inspired(I also have the itch to do a science fantasy campaign inspired by fantasy star, or a different science fantasy set on an planet that is 95% ocean) I do want to run FabUlt myself sometime soon.

Thinking on how Jeff is introduced as a young kid who hasn't met his dad in a decade, and to help save Ness and Paula, has to leave behind his best friend/boyfriend Tony to go on this adventure. The snowy atmosphere helped really sell it.

It's something I got from the game itself, as it's a status effect that randomly crops up, and you gotta call back home to erase it. Plus, Earthbound does have plenty of melancholic moments along with it's humor and quirky charm.

Oh yeah, like I feel like most of what I would need to hit is more on the tonal side, with maybe one or two things(like maybe a new "homesickness" status effect that can only be erased during bonding scenes)

Oh thanks! I have played in plenty of Fab Ult(been in one Bi-weekly campaign that's gone on fir two years so far, and another that's lasted a year), but my GMing experience with it is a lot less solid, so yeah, advice if/when I do this would be apreciated!

Been replaying earthbound after *looks at watch* 13 years, and my mind is wondering on how to properly set up Fab Ult for it.

I think one thing I would do is tell each player they make a NPC before hand that they start with a bond, not sure how strong I want, at the start of game.

Ended up doing math.

None of this is super accurate, but

Hibiki made like I think 62-63 million after translating to USD, coming out to around 100 mill after 20 years of inflation.

Boonboomger, the most recent complete series, made about 37.7 million.

And Gozyuger is doing slightly less so far

(For Context, Kamen Rider Blade, which had Toei be upset with it's toysales made 7.9 in 2004, back when the yen was much stronger , Hibiki, which nearly put KR right back into dormancy with only 6.5 billion.)

I have heard rumors that toei is just doing a rebrand but... I honestly doubt it? It feels more likely Toei would prefer to revive a dormant series such as Metal Heroes, because Toei has tried giving Sentai so many shots in the arm that just hasn't brought the success they want.
