I made a comment that appears to have been taken down. I wonder about these 5 virgins who turn their backs on the other virgins who came prepared with a lamp full of oil as well. The first 5 lacked the faith to share abundantly with the 5 who had run out of oil because the bridegroom was so late. Maybe the first 5 didn't believe that Jesus has enough love, grace and healing for us all when I see this statue it will remind me that 5 women didn't help the other 5 women in their community.

We need a statue where the message from other women is "You are #alwaysworthy." This ain't it. The parable of the ten virgins is not about women supporting each other. That would require the five with oil sharing their unending love of Christ with those who no longer felt it.

It's like everyone they asked to comment about the statue has never read the parable.

Ten virgins are waiting for the bridegroom. Five come with extra oil. The virgins nap while waiting, and only those with extra oil have enough to actually join the bridegroom when he arrives.

Yellow and/or black flying things that sting are the exception. I had a nightmare where I was covered by them. I've been slightly less terrified of bees for 4 years. Bumblers are slightly less scary because of the cute factor. I karate chopped a bee that landed on my nose, without touching my nose.

Utah is a weird place to live in. I bet all of my past tithing money that the Mormon church had a hand in both of these. The Standards For The Youth were significantly loosened recently. I wouldn't be surprised if the same was done for the Word Of Wisdom. #theocracy
