My first book would not exist if I hadn't completed a terrible first draft.

I'm writing book two now and it's so bad lmao but I'm just trying to get it all on paper (well, into a G-doc). Once it exists I can focus on making it good!

Genuinely the best advice for creative work. The 'golden rule' equivalent of making art.

A good idea is nothing. A bad first draft EXISTS. There is something to touch up, refine, polish!

You don't have to share the bad thing immediately. Wait until it's good. But make it! Make it! Make it!

"Just make it exist first. You can make it good later."

As a 'guy who used to be in bands' it feels like ~600 people bought my CD haha 💿

At a time when people are saying 'physical media is dead' & 'nobody reads anymore' I love that over 500 people picked up an indie NOVEL.

And majority sales have been the paperback not the eBook!

1 year ago on August 10, 2024 I finished drafting my first novel, Dot Monster ReVolution.

Still needed work before publishing in Dec, but the story was COMPLETE.

A year later, nearly 600 copies have been sold! No publishing house, no marketing budget. Thank you!

Summer Wars goes so hard. I got a DVD copy from a BOOKOFF in NYC a few years ago. I love the novelty of having a DVD copy, but I *need* that 4K cut!
