Yeah I’d argue it was, at least for the liberal intelligentsia in each country. Part of why the revolutions of 1848 exploded the way they did and each revolt had very similar liberal demands

The speed of the collapse also mirrors a lot of collapsing ancien regimes of old. It took 12 years for the SNP to go from 28% to 45% of the vote in Holyrood. Reform in Scotland has reached 20% and second-largest party status in about 10 months.

There’s something to be said about the global far-right having practically all the revolutionary impetus while every center-left to outright socialist party seems allergic to it. It’s almost a mirror of the spread of Communism in the 1950s or the initial spread of liberalism in the 1830s

The nature of the beast has changed, right-wing chud gains in West Germany, the US Northeast, Scotland, and other relatively rich areas were not on anyone’s radar. I mean, Trump should’ve campaigned in New Hampshire, they told him he’d lose it for sure but it almost flipped.
