"In life, there is this obsession with doing things 'the right way,' and sometimes even a punishment for doing it wrong. Even in art, even when there's no consequences, that fear can carry into it, and it feels suffocating."
"But giving yourself some time to just mess around and use some brushes or tools you've never even touched can give you some insight!"

"For example, I'm really liking the 'Shape Engine' for brushes that Krita includes. Not a lot of options are included with it, but it's got some charm to it. (I'm using it to draw this comic btw!!!)"
"So try things out! Sketch differently, put your whole shoulder into it, make that fanart for what you love, let yourself have fun with it! You're the one who's in charge, so let your mind run free!"
"For me, I don't like to think of art as a thing that you can 'succeed' or 'fail' at. I can get stuck in that rut sometimes, but I don't want to be in it for long.
The most important thing for me is that, by taking the time to do this, to let myself do what I don't normally do, by using the tools I haven't even touched yet, I can learn a new thing or two that I *can* use in the art where I want it to look good.
Besides, no matter what you do, no matter what you draw or how you draw it, as long as you give yourself kindness and the opportunity to explore and discover..."
