The Ymers getting screwed even in Stockholm…

“Okay, we’ll give you the wild cards, but somebody’s going home.” 🎾

And even on the cusp of being seeded 🤯

Man, this battle between Coco Gauff and Jessie Pegula 😅
courttheory.bsky.social
It’s true. It went into overdrive during the Federer, Nadal, Murray, Djokovic years. And it continues now.

It’s such a lazy strategy.
courttheory.bsky.social
We saw the momentum shift coming at the end of the first set.

But Gauff is helping Pegula get there quicker with these double faults taking hold.

He’s got a chair now and is receiving a leg massage.

Vacherot continues. 😂

Rinderknech has fallen over on the platform but Vacherot is continuing with his speech. 😳

Rinderknech and Vacherot, sitting on the bench next to each other, with Rinderknech putting his hand on Vacherot’s back. 😭🎾

When the new rankings come out, Valentin Vacherot will be 40 in the world.

All of that for a guy who got into Shanghai qualifying as an alternate. 🥹🎾
courttheory.bsky.social
For all the people trying to dunk on Shanghai and men’s tennis because Vacherot is on the cusp of winning a 1000-level tournament while ranked outside the top 200…

Tell me you haven’t watched him play all week without telling me you haven’t watched him play all week.

Not even the cousins final is immune to the prevailing Shanghai Masters dynamic of "one player is just out of gas"
courttheory.bsky.social
It’s absolutely baffling that the official ATP/WTA app doesn’t have the basic stats of winners and unforced errors for Shanghai.

The TNNS Live stats are dead wrong.

This shouldn’t be such a problem. 😐🎾

We’re back to this.

Rinderknech is playing some tired tennis today, even if he is up in this second set. 🎾
courttheory.bsky.social
That lazy marketing sends the wrong message that if Sinner and/or Alcaraz aren’t around, tennis isn’t worth watching.

Sure, take advantage when they are. But the over reliance on those few means the sport suffers.

Same goes for the WTA, but their big push this year has highlighted more players. 🎾

This is an incredibly entertaining final between Rinderknech and Vacherot.

It proves, once again, how good our sport is.

And it proves, once again, that we need to stop the lazy marketing around a few superstars. 🎾

I hadn’t looked until know to see who was the older of the cousins but makes sense that it’s Rinderknech. Got the early break and seemed the more confident one throughout the first set of the Cousin Final. Vacherot has some work to do.

Sounds like you’re doing it right. Now the key is to not doze off and miss the women’s final. 🙃

Oh, who knows. I tune him out.
