Eldest teenager laughed so hard during dinner while we explained to youngest teenager that he doesn't read Romantasy books and to please not tell anyone at school he does.

In elementary school, it never failed. Someone would buy one at the Scholastic book fair, read the stories out loud during recess, and scare everyone.

This is the first Shirley Jackson book I've ever read!

This is so frustrating. I’m working on a school project about pregnancy & social determinants of health and the changes needed to address inequities. The programs I’m saying should be expanded are being reduced or cut because our government doesn’t actually prioritize maternal health or survival.

I haven’t stayed up until 3am finishing a book since Nettle & Bone. T. Kingfisher doesn't disappoint with this dark retelling of Snow White with sinister reflections & poison apples. Kingfisher writes the best characters & I love the animals she incorporates into her stories.

Him (dramatic sigh): Those kids are still having their PSATs too. (Eye roll).

Glad the eldest teenager knows Portland and Chicago aren’t really war-torn.

I didn't finish my presentation but I'm pretty close. Quinn said if I sit on the couch & pet him while I read, I can stop doing homework for tonight.

As a kid who grew up worried about looking into mirrors @ night thanks to Bloody Mary, I don't think this book will make me feel better about them.

I didn't know how much I needed this motivation. I've been disheartened by what's happening across our country. It’s been hard to engage in local politics and work on my degree because it feels pointless. Today, I was reminded that the work goes on, that the fight is hard but worthwhile.
