The recipe I found suggested substituting the fermented red bean paste for just straight up red food colouring as it was a difficult thing to get ahold of and added very minimal flavour to the actual marinade so maybe that's why haha 😂

Having the person training the woman on the till get excited by my purchase and loudly proclaim that I was buying 'a weapon' and how now she could now teach the new cashier how to handle someone who tried to buy a weapon. They were small garden clippers. I got so many looks 😭
