This is so true too. I’ve read specifically f/f fan works and follow specifically f/f artists. The amount of comments those poor creators get that range from nitpicking all the way to malicious is crazy.
Like it’s totally ok to just complain about something. There does not have to be a false moral high ground to take and it’s not something that should be put on the artists and writers actually making things to fulfill that desire they’re looking for.
Exactly, creators in fandom spaces have always primarily been queer people, women and poc, on top of overlap between these groups. Sometimes I feel like people need to have some sort of moral crusade to try and voice a grievance instead of just saying “I wish there was more ‘x’ material.”
This has always been my take on that kind of discourse. As a queer man I’m probably always going to find the connections between male characters more engaging and interesting, and I’ve never been inspired to create M/F or F/F when someone tries to shame me for making “male centered” art
