Also in attendance (but not taggable on Bluesky, so demoted to this reply as punishment) were county cllr Robin Jones and parish cllr Chris Pritchard.

All levels of government coming together and very much aligned on the importance of more sustainable transport options.

Now to deliver...

Improvements to active travel in 'Science Vale' took a step forward as CulBUG met with @ollyglover.bsky.social & @nathanley.com at @ukaeaofficial.bsky.social Culham Campus on Friday.

In particular, there were ideas for short & long term solutions for A415 Tollgate crossing and Abingdon causeway 🚴‍♀️

The Little Riders Bike Jam Didcot is less than 2 weeks away - it might be of interest to some of you.
Remember to also check out oxtrails.org.uk/events, you might find something interesting on there as well!

Sorry @sustrans.bsky.social we used your delightful FRideDays pun instead of your #FridayWeCycle tag 😄

Europa #FRideDays #Bikebus is finished til next term, so take a look at an alternate route we tried.

Neither road nor narrow 'shared path' is ideal for encouraging modal shift along an increasingly congested A415. 🚴🚴🚴

Thanks @greenpartyemma.bsky.social for being our special guest on this ride! 🌟💚🌟

Thanks for the plug, another video is incoming showing the slightly different route...

CulBUG is at the head of the pack on organising Oxfordshire bikebuses, but there is work to be done on the promptness of our social updates!

Thanks for your support Emma. Looking fab in your tabard! 🤩

CulBUG are working with Europa School to provide a bikebus every Friday (2 so far!). 🚲👦👧👦👧🚲

A great community initiative, and it highlights the lack of safe cycle options for kids that would improve health and reduce congestion on A415.

Along the road the entire way with 2 marshals front and rear (+ DJ 👨‍🎤🎶)

Drivers were well behaved and as it is a regular Friday event road users should get accustomed to it in the coming weeks.

We decided not to divert onto the shared use path as it is still narrow for the size of the bikebus.

Thanks also to @sustrans.bsky.social @cyclinguk.bsky.social @cycloxoxford.bsky.social for their guidance in getting setup, it's super easy!

Special mention to @emilykerr36.bsky.social for supporting while also having to race back for her own school run!

The A415 causeway is the main problem. It is currently a choice between a busy A-road or a narrow, bumpy, elevated footpath.

So many who would like to cycle to Europa School and @ukaeaofficial.bsky.social are instead pushed into cars, adding to congestion, pollution, and road danger.

Parents at the Europa School and staff at Culham Science Centre have presented an 870-name petition to Oxfordshire County Council calling for a cycle route along the A415 and a safe crossing. They say the current situation poses “an unacceptably high risk of injury and death for children”.

Thank you for your support yesterday! 💚

Hopefully this regular event will highlight that there is no safe cycle provision along the causeway section of A415.

We should empower kids to get to school under their own steam, along with all the benefits that brings: ↗️ health++ ↘️ congestion--

Introducing the first Abingdon-Europa bikebus 🚲👦👦👦🚲

Thanks to all the volunteers, parents, kids, and @activeoxfordshire.bsky.social ❤️

It's a great start to the day, and don't worry if you missed out, the bikebus leaves every Friday at 7.45!

Work on a new/improved cycle route on the Oxford-Culham commuter route (near Radley) should begin this summer 🌞🚲🌞

Also nice for Abingdon multi-modal train trips 🚄🚲

Great news! But Culham is feeling a bit left out 😭 So we have suggested a 'Harcourt Greenway'. It could form part of a route to get workers to Culham Campus from Oxford and also acts as a nice active travel route to Harcourt Arboretum for Abingdon/Didcot folk. Thoughts? 🚶🚲

CulBUG president, Aidan Reilly, presented a petition to OCC seeking safe active travel routes along A415 to Europa School and Culham Campus. 🚲🚶‍♀️

It has been a pleasure to engage with the wider community around Culham to give this issue the attention it deserves. Lots more to come. 💚🤝💚
Aidan Reilly, uncharacteristically suited, speaking at a lectern at the start of the Oxfordshire County Council meeting. A TV behind shows the 3 minute countdown that public speakers are allowed. A CulBUG logo has been added at bottom left of the photo. Aidan Reilly, uncharacteristically suited, holding the printed internet petition and written petition collected at Europa School outside Oxfordshire County Council. Slight oopsy in that contact details could be made out on the written petition so it has been tastefully amateurishly corrected with a copy-paste CulBUG logo covering that piece of paper.

There's a petition at the moment for a safe walking/cycle route along A415 from Abingdon and Sutton Courtenay towards Europa School and Culham Campus.

If you use this route already, or you don't but would if it was safer, please consider signing 👉 actionnetwork.org/petitions/pr...
