Not only have the team generated these outputs from the project, but have given many presentations on the research in person and online. It has also inspired the show, 'Mentology', performed by Polmont Youth Theatre.

The project has also resulted in a fortnightly men’s drop-in session on the University of Strathclyde campus for students to connect with peers and engage about mental health.

Men Minds wanted to change this. To normalise conversations about mental health, and reduce stigma, they created a comic aimed at boys and young men.
cycjscotland.bsky.social
Many of them didn’t believe in traditional notions of masculinity and challenged the assumption that men do not want to talk about mental health. Yet long-held social norms about what it means to be a man still permeated their everyday environments, often leading to intense shame and stigma.

The young men who took part in Men Minds had diverse backgrounds, but they shared some common experiences.

A group of young men came together to understand more about boys and young men’s mental health in Scotland. They co-produced research with the project team from CYCJ, University of Strathclyde, Monash University and the Mental Health Foundation. They ran focus groups, surveys & interviews.
