I’m always fearful of doing the same thing. This year I’m leaving alone much of the leaf debris around our front patch where it’s moist & everyone’s favorite spot.

The fragrance from all those trumpets must be wonderful.
Ours are in the garage & waiting to be over wintered in the cellar. While the doors are open the neighbors’ honey bees are loving the blooms.

This was my dahlia "harvest" 3 years ago. After digging them up, I over-wintered them in ceder chip-filled boxes in our cold room. Oh My Aching Back. Not This Year. Don't feel a bit guilty about treating them as annuals. I'm doing that from now on.

Dug up dahlias lying on a bed of hay and ready to be stored.

We have to dig the tubers up & store them indoors in a cool spot at about 40 degrees. Huge job that I've done for years
but not one that I'm looking forward to this year. Might just
go wild & get some new tubers in Springtime.
