It should be noted that Google has noticed the backlash enough that they quietly published a code that would removed AI results for their searches.

An enterprising person built a default site to search without AI, and the results are goddamn refreshing as hell.

SIGH: I agree that language in the open world is an issue (see upstream.force11.org/language-co-...). But also, I have literally been talking to the academic community about open for over two decades. I despair at academic ignorance about the system within which they operate.

SIGH: It isn't enough that this merger is the result of a plan to increase the university ranking level - yes university rankings that are based on methodology so poor that they would never pass an ethics application - but the SA govt is also throwing money at Elsevier for analyses about the merger
