Gated is a great word! 🙏 Thank you! When I think of elder scrolls style open-world I call it "point of interest open-world". As opposed to something like a final fantasy game, which thanks to your help I can call "gated open-world"!

Does anyone know a word to describe an open-world game which is only open up to the areas you've unlocked? Like a lot of JRPGs? Like you can go anywhere you've been. But getting to new areas is gated behind story progress?

Lol I googled "How does Eastshade end?" and google's AI summary gave me this goofy answer. What is the point of AI help when it's (usually not even fully) correct 80% of the time but 20% of the time so spectacularly wrong it's comical?
