The framework I bring people through sparked some interesting discussions yesterday about the benefits or not of using the tool.

Interesting comment: “If we apply these techniques to work with humans we will probably get more efficiency improvement than using the tool”.

I think you’ll like the course @castlebridge.bsky.social has put together to train people on responsible use of GenAI in work. Heavy emphasis on things that need to be done to maintain cognitive challenge, validation of outputs etc.

A new facet to David Graeber's idea of "Bullshit Jobs": work that uses AI without consideration. If you think using AI without doing all of the work to check the outcome, you implicitly consider what you're doing to be bullshit.

Explanation: the colour I had picked up (after being told the colour I wanted wasn’t in stock) wasn’t actually included in the offer. This wasn’t mentioned or pointed out when I was talking to the sales person. And if there was signage calling this out it wasn’t sufficiently clear.

Questionable pricing strategy by DID Electric - priced an item on line, went into store. Picked up what seemed to be one of that item. Wrapped it and dropped it off as a gift. Checked receipt after I’d done all that at lunchtime. Was charged €30 more than the price advertised on line.

As someone who did a degree in History, but works in quite an IT technical field I often find myself in meetings saying

"Has anyone actually read this document, & furthermore does anyone understand what it is "actually" saying

Because it's clearly not being articulated in this meeting

Just to be clear, an English degree - learning to critically assess texts - is actually one of the most dangerous for people such as Badenoch.

An educated population, able to bring hundreds of years of context to statements in a dawning age of AI slop and attention-seeking dishonesty is also vital.

Many mistaken assumptions made about the skills required in a post-AI world. Tech and formulaic stuff will be largely automated. The ability to write and parse complex text, present and influence will be key skills. Talking as an English Lit grad now working in complex tech roles and researching AI
