And it only works for Boston. I can have nice things in (smaller) New Haven… as long as I don’t try to come home.

Making (and physically delineating, usually) areas directly next to corners “no parking” so people crossing the street and cars pulling out can see without needing to step/nose out into traffic to see around people who parked illegally close.

The bus line also runs way less often than it did then. After growing up here I bought a house as a 22 year old at the tail end of this bus line, and commuted to my job at the university that way. Owned no car.

Trying that today would suck.

Also, the house would probably cost way more than $50k 😭

The last years I used them they were blocked because of a few missing stairs. I would climb through the barricades and skip the missing steps, even in the dark: it was 10 minutes faster than the best other path.

The borough used to have multiple sets of city steps, and those are also all gone.

Also these steps allowed Westinghouse employees to climb to their jobs from the highway-level parking lot also let me get to the closest bus stop in high school and then when I lived with my parents at various points in college.

Left to rot, they are now gone.

I grew up playing street hockey next to this thing, when it was unused but still attached to a standing structure.
