Yeah, Arte is great! Only came across it a while ago. Currently watching a Bulgarian film called The Peach Thief (1964)

Tales of the Unexpected by The Lighthouse Keepers. My favourite forgotten Australian 80s band. I love Juliet Ward's voice. #5debutalbums8084
Front cover of Tales of the Unexpected by The Lighthouse Keepers from 1984. Features an abstract painting on a black background. Back cover of Tales of the Unexpected by The Lighthouse Keepers. Features the track listing and a picture of the band playing live.

Nice! Ha, I'm not sure, but I think Roger McGuinn had one.

Thanks Al! Yes, I really liked the singles, but still need to check out the album. Very C86, I could feel my fringe growing...

My #LastFourWatched on #LetterboxdFriday were a 50s war film, a 20s (partial) talkie, a 50s western and a 90s classic
My last four films watched with film posters for Beachhead (1954), Lonesome (1928), Rebel in Town (1956) and Strictly Ballroom (1992)

Plus, we tend to choose films we haven't seen before, which means you are not submitting a personal favourite to be potentially shot down. Works for us. It's still going, but there are only three of us left, one of whom works at the original place.

I got involved in a film club like this around 20 years ago. Everyone else knew each other from work, but I was a friend's +1. Also, we watch the films on our own and meet up to talk about it after. This gives time to think about what you have to say and not have to react on the spot. Nightmare!

Cool, I will check it out!

Haven't seen the video yet, but really liked the song, too.

I'm going to see Robert Forster tonight in Brighton. It's my first gig since 2018, which I went to with the same people I'm going with tonight, and which was probably the last time I saw them.

Ah, thanks!! I always forget about that site. That's made my day.

I love westerns. This has been on my watchlist for years, but I haven't managed to track it down yet!

Think I have some catching up to do!
darrenmjones.bsky.social
With you on both of those.

Still, I did get to watch Lonesome (1928), a fascinating early talkie.
Film poster for Lonesome (1928). It features a Ferris wheel in the background with a man and woman in swimming costumes at the front.

I have been up for three hours. The irony is, my youngest daughter has an inset day today, so I could have had a lie in.

Might as well watch a film.

Shit, I've got up an hour early by mistake.

That's probably when I got into them, too. Although a friend had The Clock Comes Down the Stairs, so I had heard them before.

Great to hear the enthusiasm of someone who recently discovered Microdisney. The new Alexei Shishkin album is great, too. Also, a useful prompt/reminder for #5debutalbums8084
