Here's the brand new (iOS 26.1 beta 4) Liquid Glass option.

Left pic: "Clear" (the old one)
Right pic: "Tinted" (new)

To me, "Tinted" is WAY better, should be the default.

The new switch is hidden in Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass

Amazing to me how many apps I use that are impacted by this AWS outage.

And none of the failures blame AWS, they just put up an error message. Or the interface gets a little screwy.

Single point of failure is a troubling dependency.

Had to unplug my HomePod mini last night.

It was hearing voices, would play podcasts, music, every few minutes. As if responding to unheard commands.

Only happened when the TV was on in the same room.

Applied latest update, rebooted it, nothing helped.

Wildly annoying. 😡

Fair point. Appreciate the explanation Shane. Preview is a useful little utility. It lets you open all kinds of documents, including word docs, and PDFs, mark them up in all kinds of ways, work on photos too.

The Preview app is the iPhone equivalent to the Preview app in macOS. Do you know this, but are missing some specifics on how it works? Mine opens the last file I was working on and does all the normal preview things. I work in Preview on macOS a lot, so it might be more familiar to me.

Interesting that GM is supporting iPhone Car Key, but is dumping CarPlay.

Long as I use an iPhone, I won't buy a car that doesn't support CarPlay. iPhone Key support is nowhere near as important.

Disable Liquid Glass in macOS Tahoe:

defaults write -g com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES

- Enter string in Terminal
- Logout, then back in, or reboot

Change YES to NO to reenable.

I’m guessing that we’re going to see a new device, either this week or next, when Apple watches a bunch of new products. I think it will have the word “home“ in it, because Apple is planning to dig deeper into home automation. The current device can work as a home hub and support thread.

Apple TV+ rebrand to Apple TV has all the confusion of HBO rebrand.

Apple web site still forks between hardware side (/appletv, which redirects to apple-tv-4k) and shows/movies side (/appletvplus, redirects to apple-tv-plus)

Curious how Apple will officially distinguish between the two.
