From the @changelog.com's latest email, it mentions "garbage collection"... we've for years had a "#code-gore" channel that we do the same thing in. These things are great.

Garbage collection - "the act or process of collecting trash code before deletion, for posterity or pettiness."

Our code-gore channel, "Post/share the goriest code you find... we'll empathize with and laugh at you"

I’m still a huge fan of git but there have been a few posts on Hacker News that have been highly positive towards jj so I’m curious. Also, it is entirely backwards compatible with git and you can use jj against a git repo so your team doesn’t have to migrate to anything new.

A simple example is the gitconfig in my dotfiles... I have local changes that are OS-specific (Mac or Windows usually) that shouldn't get pushed. Granted, I could probably use some sort of includeIf directive, but it feels complicated. Maybe I'm just too used to git, though.

I spent a bit of time reading up on jujutsu and, maybe I'm weird, but I like git's staging area. I frequently have local-only changes (not gitignored though) for local config changes or similar. And I have no idea how I would do that in jj.

It is very annoying to try to wipe and reinstall an OS on really old Mac hardware... I have a 2009 iMac that I'm donating and I don't have the installation media. And I wiped it before creating installation media. And all the steps assume Intel chipsets.

My Dygma Raise 2 keyboard came in today and I'm loving it... I had a few issues with the initial firmware update, but it is smooth sailing now. The Bazecor app is super impressive, too. This is going to be fun. I'll post a follow up blog later.

It's been on of those mornings. I was trying to blame Pinia, Reactive and more. I should have known better.

Browser dev tools showing boolean values going from colorful to not, then later debugging and seeing quotes around my value that I thought was a boolean.
