When I was a kid in the Chicago area, neighborhood grocery stores within walking distance were the norm. Then, the chains came into the various areas and forced the neighborhood stores out by pricing them out.

You have falsely credited Chatel with this image on more than one occasion.

Margaret Bourke-White was also employed by the Resettlement Administration & was part of that team of photographers, which included Lange, Walker Evans, & others, led by Roy Stryker, to document the agency's work & the lives of those affected by the Depression. She also created some haunting photos.

Nope… “Migrant Mother” is a silver gelatin b&w photo taken in 1936 by photographer Dorothea Lange during her time w/the Resettlement Administration. It is a portrait of 32 year-old migrant farmworker Florence Owens Thompson and three of her children huddled together in a tent at a pea-pickers' camp.
