My profound distaste for evangelicalism does seem to lead to posts that sound like I’m some variety of mainstream Christian, which is wildly off brand for me. I’m actually a fairly insufferable atheist, I’m just willing to make some allowances for the less awful, quieter branches of Christianity.

It’s not a novel point, but if people who actually live the spirit of the teachings of Jesus are the only candidates for being Raptured, that’s a non overlapping Venn diagram with people who believe they would be Raptured.

I won’t ever watch Adolescence, but I’ve never been more grateful for the hyper-queer, unfailingly kind, 80s New Wave encyclopedia algorithm that my kid forged for themselves. Things could have broken really bad for a kid born in 2003, but their choices led them to a place of tolerance & enthusiasm.

I hope that Newsom keeps driving the current administration bonkers for the next couple years, but I also hope he’s, I dunno, devoured by a very large bird or something before the primary season really kicks off. He’s very good at pissing these people off. But the idea of him as a candidate is awful

I’m also rewatching, just started S3, which is by far my least favorite season, but you’re right. It could have been an abrupt, but still reasonably satisfying ending to the show. So so glad they didn’t go that route. Season 4 is also a frequently a mess, but in much more enjoyable ways.

When I met @benjaminahr.mobi & @cutfortime.bsky.social at maxfuncon 2022, they were so charming and kind. They seemed politely confused that I introduced myself as a big fan of the pod, and then it immediately came up that I don’t give a shit about Star Trek, but they were delightful all weekend.

I’ve listened to every episode of Greatest Gen, and a smattering of Greatest Trek. Ben and Adam are hilarious and the FoD’s are a wonderful community. #startrekday

I just went to a Japanese Breakfast concert. I would have bet money that I found out about that band from the podcast Wonderful!, but there’s no evidence of that. @griffinmcelroy.bsky.social, you’ve brought them to the show right? I meant to say “the kids in Hawkins Lab.” Also this theory was always half baked because eleven’s powers don’t even really fit. I was forcing that square peg into the round hole of evocation, even though it totally ignores the spying/finding element that really makes her special.

Rewatching Stranger Things before the final season. While the Kali storyline doesn’t work and was abandoned as a blind alley, I really liked the idea that the kids in Hawkins had different powersets. I had a pet theory back in 2017 that the kids’ powers would map onto the D&D schools of magic.
