Game 72: Dunipace 2-0 Hill of Beath Hawthorn.
Quality in the final third was the difference here. Not much between the sides otherwise.
'Pace produced two nice finishes, Haws couldn't hit back, though they did find the woodwork.
A good watch.

Pie review: Steak Pie, Dunipace FC.
My heart sank when this came out - the dreaded Bell's pie. You know my feelings on these. First one in a while and still terrible. Look at the lack of filling. Wasn't very warm either.

It's the home side in command at Westfield Park.
Dunipace lead 2-0 at half time. Two smart penalty box finishes. The Haws keeper has also had two good saves.
They're making heavy use of near post corners and crosses that you don't see too often.

Football day again and I've headed up the M80 to one of the westernmost extremities of the East of Scotland League.
I'm at Westfield Park in Denny where Dunipace host Hill of Beath Hawthorn in a top of the table Premier Division clash.

Game 71: Scotland 0-2 Sweden.
Not a very encouraging ninety minutes from the Under 17s.
Sweden by far the better side for the most part. Hard to work out what Scotland were trying to do. Other than one deflected shot didn't look like getting a goal back.

Scotland are two down to Sweden at half time in Airdrie.
We got off to a decent start, had some pressure and made a chance or two.
Alas, the last 20 minutes or so has been all Sweden. Two decent strikes for their goals, albeit one was slightly deflected.

A bonus football game for me this afternoon. I've nipped along to Airdrie to see how Scotland get on against Sweden at Under 17 level.
It's the second of three qualifying group games for the Scots, who beat England here the other day.

Game 70: Lochee United 1-2 Dundee North End.
North End much improved after half time and two goals in the last 15 minutes saw them come from behind to win.
A breakaway goal from Bobby Linn late on secured the points.
A sore one for Lochee.

Peh review: Steak Pie, Lochee United JFC.
No doubt that this is quality effort - the filling was top class.
Preparation can make or break a pie though, and the pastry was almost raw. Nearly didn't eat it. Hotter oven temperature needed.

Home side Lochee United are a goal up at half time. Deservedly so in my opinion. They've also missed a sitter.
Their press has negated a lot of what North End are trying to do, but whether they can keep it going for 90 minutes remains to be seen.

Game 2 of the day is up in Dundee, a city I always enjoying visiting to partake in the Beautiful Game.
A big Midlands League encounter for me tonight as potential title contenders Lochee United and Dundee North End clash at characterful Thomson Park.

Game 69: Uni. of Stirling 4-2 Loughborough Uni.
Quality game of contrasting styles. Stirling high tempo, quick transitions, a bit of physicality.
Deserved winners.
Good technicians in Loughborough's side but were a bit soft and one dimensional.

It's football day. Two games planned today, kicking off with another slice of BUCS action as University of Stirling take on Loughborough at Gannochy.
This is a Premier North game, the top level of student football.

Game 68: Heart of Midlothian 3-1 Celtic. Title talk very premature, but a statement win for Hearts.
Well deserved and built on a tremendous work ethic.
Two goals in three second half minutes were the difference, Celtic unable to respond.
#davesfootballtravels ⚽️
At the big lunchtime game as Premiership leaders Hearts look to stretch their lead at the top against defending champions Celtic.
I don't go in for Prem football too often nowadays but this one felt unmissable.

Game 67: Camelon Juniors 1-0 Johnstone Burgh.
A slight turn up for the books, but deserved for Camelon based on their second half.
The winner came with 15 minutes to play. Burgh were hindered by red cards before about after the goal

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Camelon Juniors FC.
Trying another of the Carmuirs Park range. Mutton rather than beef, as it arguably should be. Ample filling, slightly bland, but did the job. An extra pinch of mace and we're there. Pastry well executed.

A goalless first half at Camelon, not much to write on Bluesky about.
Camelon maybe just edging it, but neither side working the opposition goalie enough. Could easily go to extra time.

It's football day, and another step on the Road to Hampden as the Scottish Cup reaches the second round stage.
I've gone with the East v West clash of two well-resourced clubs as Camelon Juniors host Johnstone Burgh at wonderful Carmuirs Park.

Game 66: Hibernian 4-0 KF 2. Korriku.
Hibs take a healthy lead over to Kosovo for the second leg.
Goals from McMurdo, Davidson and Gillie in the second half. Davidson's was a cracking solo run and finish.
The visitors rarely threatened.

A dominant first half from Hibs at Easter Road, but they only lead 1-0.
Was surprised to see Molotnikov in the Hibs side and he got the goal before going off injured.
Clelland missed a sitter before half time. The Kosovans aren't up to much.

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Hibernian FC.
In Hibs' Albion Bar semi-hospitality offer tonight, so a pie in the warmth. Not a warm enough pie though. Otherwise, decent. It's Pars Foods' standard effort with a nicely seasoned filling that I quite enjoy.

Today's second bout of football entertainment is in UEFA Youth League, as Scottish domestic champions Hibernian kick off their campaign.
Their opponents are KF 2. Korriku from Kosovo. Fairly sure I've not seen a Kosovan side play before.

Game 65: St Andrews University 2-3 Edinburgh University.
A more emphatic win for Edinburgh than the scoreline suggests.
The St Andrews goalie kept his side in the game at points. Edinburgh good middle to front.

It's football day again.
Two games planned today, starting with the BUCS Scottish Tier 1 clash of St Andrews University and Edinburgh University at the University Sports Centre in St Andrews.
Edinburgh are 2-0 up at half time.
