There’s something about Christ Church that keeps drawing me back. I’ve been exploring it through both paint and lino, each revealing something different: colour and atmosphere in one, texture and energy in the other. #ChristChurchOxford#OxfordArt#Linocut#Painting#ArtOfOxford
This is how a new work begins. Take a picture, edit it and then draw it onto the Lino plate. I’ve already done a few backgrounds and next will be cutting out. #davidwellerart#linoprint#oxford#buyart
Up to that point, Falstaff has built his whole world on the idea that Hal’s affection will lift him higher — that beneath their jesting there’s genuine love. When that illusion shatters, he’s left with a painful mixture of pride, disbelief, and dawning self-awareness.

Recent etching — exploring the textures and quiet presence of old stone steps and doorways. Grateful to Kate Teal for her influence and the inspiration she’s given me in approaching architectural subjects with sensitivity and patience. #etching#printmaking#artistprint#blackandwhiteart#kateTeal
Under the New Elevated Subway Printed in deep red ink, this piece captures the sharp geometry and layered shadows beneath the elevated tracks. I’ve been fascinated by how light cuts through these structures and transforms the street below. #linocut#printmaking#reliefprint#urbanlandscape#cityart
Stairs at the Courtauld, London Etching inspired by the sweeping staircase and soft light of the Courtauld Gallery. I loved exploring the rhythm of the lines and curves in this space.
Baobab Tree This one was printed using the reduction technique, carving away the same block in stages for each colour layer. I loved working with the earthy browns against the blue sky — it really brings out the sculptural form of the baobab. #reductionlinocut#linocut#printmaking#reliefprint
A textured oil painting of the Radcliffe Camera, Oxford. I wanted to capture the warmth of the golden stone against a shifting sky, using expressive brushstrokes to echo the energy of the building and its atmosphere.
This piece is all about light, movement, and the drama of architecture.
Three years today I completed my very first etching. Alongside my latest etching. It’s a wonderful medium and the drawing process works for me. Please follow my work and become a friend. #printmakingprocess#ContemporaryRealism#davidwellerart
First stage of a new print run. Laying down the sky and sea gradients — each sheet picks up the ink a little differently, so I get a range of moods right from the start. Excited to see how these develop as the layers build up! #linoprint#printmakingprocess#reductionprint#wip#oceanart
