Thread documenting my discovery process and thoughts about unused textures in the final boss arena of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
I wouldn't qualify it as cut content, but as a probable earlier iteration of the Divine Gate appearance and themes.
This might be part of it yes, but seeing that an entire cutscene was cut or changed in significant ways indicates a possible change in direction
I've seen people saying that increasing the game speed in the gameplay options helps quite a lot

Oh I didn't know those were events from the original game!
Tbh I'm a bit disappointed that it feels so much like a LD&R ep and not so much a Bungy cinematic.
In typical Mielgo fashion he still can't make a short without showing a woman being brutally chased/wounded/murdered as the center piece 😌
Congratulations on the Kickstarter launch, I'm so happy for you it's so well deserved! 🤍

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.
YES YEEEEESSSSSSSSSS 🖤🖤🖤

Have you ever played the Twin Peaks: Into the Night demo? 🦉

➡️ blueroseteam.itch.io/twin-peaks-i...

This fan game created by the Blue Rose team is a beautiful tribute to David Lynch and his series. And the retro PSX style suits the game perfectly ❤️

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia.

Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)
There's also a part about the coliseum/pvp arena update which isn't listed in the chapters!
Not much but it's a nice touch that they chose to include it 😌
Thank you!
I'll make a more fleshed out theory about blood and poison flowing from the gate down to Belurat (and possible origin of the fly sickness?) and submit it to a lore Thursday if you come back to this format.
I'd be super curious to know your thoughts, cheers!
Hi!
You might be interested by this thread about datamined bloody textures in the final boss arena of SotE.
Turns out it also explains the lost cinematic of Miquella from the gameplay trailer. Thanks!!

Update for the bloody divine gate thread:

Lost Miquella cinematic from the SotE gameplay trailer solved and also confirms that the divine gate was bloody at some point in development.

Check out the whole thread for more context on this discovery and speculation.
But here's the huge discovery thanks to user "Rhys1201" on Discord that noticed it in the gameplay trailer after reading this thread.
The lost cinematic of miquella handing his hand to the scadutree was taken from top the stairs of the divine gate. But the corpses are dark red and match perfectly!
Also something important to note: no horns on the bodies.
This is the proof that the gate was bloody and got changed to what we know now at some point, and this cinematic was part of it. Either the beginning or phase transition of the fight.
This cinematic was indeed real, just not part of the final vision for the DLC.

Update:
Firstly, some objects bleed when hit in the boss arena. This is inconsistent as there's no pattern on which objects bleed. This seems to be a parameter left out by the artist by mistake during the rework of the gate.
Thanks to Abraham Link for pointing it on Discord.
