It’s why Sumire will never live in Hingashi again, as well. Even if the story one day goes there & the isolationism goes away she won’t live there again & will only visit because it’s still a reminder of what she lost and why she lost it.

And that’s okay!

Yup! I view Estinien as very similar to myself, I have trauma tied to a place in my city & going back there does make me recall my trauma, so even if I am healed from it it still sucks to see it. Does it hamper my healing? No. Would I still prefer not to remember that trauma? Absolutely!

Shield Samba + Improv Finish are two underutilized abilities, I’ve genuinely kept parties alive with no healer from well timed shield sambas, improv finish & curing waltz

So whenever I see other dancers just NOT use it it makes me wanna cry. Like pls… use them…

If you want our difference in opinion--

Me: Estinien wouldn't be able to live or want to live in Ishgard Post-EW due to his guilt & trauma, he wants to move & see the world

My partner: Estinien's partner should help him heal and make it so that he has moved past that & can live in his homeland

Yes, you are allowed to interpret things how you want & your interpretation will be different from others (My partner & I have straight up argued on my opinion on Estinien living in Coerthas Post-Endwalker LMAO) but if it isn’t based in the source material then (+)

Idk, like yeah we are all playing barbie’s but also. If your take is so far removed from the source it’s not even the same guy…. Like if you’re not asking for criticism I guess it’s rude to point out, but don’t act surprised when other ppl don’t want to interact w/ you.

that isn’t an interpretation of the character, that’s an OC you made that looks and sometimes sounds like the character!!

Shiiiiit sometimes I’ve completely redone entire swaths of lore & headcanons because I realized my own interpretation of Estinien didn’t line up with the source material!

& I’m not saying this is something I’ve personally encountered or my mutuals have done, but I have seen it happen!! And like. Here’s the thing.

If you want to get better as a writer/creative, sometimes you have to accept the L when someone else points out how your interpretation of a character(+)

coming back to fandom and watching people get upset when others politely try to point out how their meta or interpretation of a character is wrong because “we’re all playing barbie’s & it’s my interpretation!!” has been an Experience™️
