Which is also why I loved SH1 so much. The combat is very meat and potatoes, but it just does its thing and keeps itself out of the way.
And the pacing of the game is so tight that by the time you'd get bored of it - the game just ends ahaha

Kinda similar how I felt about SH2. Enemies barely offer anything interesting gameplay wise, but you spend a lot more time with them, making the game overall feel very tedious. The best thing a system like that can do - is to not get in the way.

What did you find grating about the combat?

The combat seem to be the most divisive thing about the game so far from what I've heard, can't wait to see for myself, really fascinating.

Only played a tiny bit in the beginning before deciding to marathon 1-4 first.
But really looking forward to getting to it (before the spooky season ends hopefully), everything I've seen looked really good!

As a horror enjoyer Silent Hill games were my biggest blind spot, so before starting f I'm finally playing through 1-4.
On 3 currently already.
Especially surprised at how much I liked SH1 and how well it holds up, was worried about this one the most.
And also at how much I didn't like 2 ahahaha

The most appropriate notepad choice for Silent Hill notes btw

If you think about it those alt texts are like little descriptions in those games when you look at random items.
Wonder if this notepad could be used somewhere else...

Another surprising thing is that we got all of those four games in like 5 years (1999 to 2004).
You can see the cracks as the games go, but something like that would still be crazy in the current industry.

Yeah, 3's been the most intense so far. Also glad they decided to continue the story and returned to that raw and crunchy atmosphere of 1
I only played 4 a little bit like 20 years ago., so going fresh and mostly blind been a great experience so far
3 and 4 are the ones I was most interested in tbh
