What does it mean to be called? What does it mean to honor a calling? I am still in the process of discovering

Once upon a time in Los Angeles, a statue of a goddess started winking at me from across the room.

When I asked her name, she told me she was Salus, the Roman counterpoint of Hygeia, the goddess of wellness, connected to Aphrodite, the goddess of love.

That progress is not going to be measured in hours or days or even weeks. That sometimes even the smallest step is enough.

How much can we be with that. The natural slowness of life. How much can we relax into it and luxuriate. And just let it be what it is. Even when it's slow.

As the season shifts and the light fades, we have an opportunity to remember that the pace of life is not as fast as we have become accustomed to demanding it to be. That unfurling is an incremental process that usually evades our ordinary perception.
