Made a little self-portrait over the past couple days - something to put in the about page of my web portfolio in lieu of an actual photo (perish the thought) #linocut #linogravure #blockprinting #printmaking #selfportrait #autoportrait
Linocut self-portrait print in black ink on white paper, with the lino block to the left. Your Humble Printmaker is pictured in an octagonal frame, carving a flower with a Pfeil gouge.

Last summer I remember being a little disappointed with how this pigeon print turned out, but I admit it's grown on me - I've decided to list a few of this version (printed on this paper with little recycled text scraps) in my shop ko-fi.com/s/8a38730e91 #linocut #blockprinting #pigeon
Linocut in black ink of a pigeon facing left, printed on roughly A6-size light beige paper that has little recycled text scraps sprinkled throughout. Multiple prints of the previous pigeon linocut, spread out to show the variations in the prints and paper.

Earlier this year, I had a proper re-read of the Holmes canon, which made me realise how much I missed making little comics. I've been posting a weekly page (@ theobservanceoftrifles.tumblr.com) for a few months now, and it's just been lovely to engage with the source material again!

Lion passant, based off an etched bronze plaque that faithfully guards our wc #linocut #printmaking #heraldry
B5-sized linocut in black ink on white paper of a heraldic-style lion passant facing right with a sword in its left paw. It is a fairly simplistic outline with more intricate details carved into the mane, tail, and sword handle.

Two versions of this copy of a woodcut from the 15th-century bestiary/herbal Le Jardin de santé, which helpfully includes mythological creatures such as this Pegasus #linocut #blockprinting #printmaking #pegasus #lejardindesante #hortussanitatis

Used one of the beautiful wax models held at La Specola in Florence and pictured in the Encyclopaedia Anatomica as reference for this linocut of the large and small intestines and their venous drainage. I LOVE making anatomical prints and am always open to suggestions! #linocut #printmaking #anatomy
B5-size linocut printed in red ink on white paper of a wax model which illustrates gastrointestinal circulation. The large intestine has been lifted above the small intestines to show the web of veins between them. Close-up detail of the previous image.

Unfortunately I will not be able to send prints to the US until there is a clear procedure for taxation or until the exemption is reinstated 🙃 I've already had to refund one person who ordered right before I updated my ko-fi, this is going to be extremely shit for so many small businesses...

An old print from 2019 that still holds up pretty well (in my humble opinion). Might think about doing an updated version of this with my new and improved "carving skills"... #linocut #printmaking #mushrooms
A5-size linocut print in black ink of various types of bioluminescent mushrooms crowded together in a tight composition with a heavy border. Close-up detail photo of the previous linocut.

Tried something new a couple months ago and made a gif out of a linocut! I carved the 24 'frames' into one block so I could print them all at once, then scanned & put it together in photoshop #linocut #printmaking #trans #transart #animation #gif
